Our Mission

THE LVMARI MISSION · MORE WITHIN

Make room for the questions
that don't get enough room.

Some questions become headlines. Others spend years in quiet laboratories, field stations and notebooks — important, rigorous, full of possibility, but easy to overlook.

We believe curiosity should not be funded only by popularity.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Science is not a popularity contest.
But funding can behave like one.

Research follows many forces: scientific promise, public attention, policy, philanthropy and, in commercial science, the possibility of a return. Those forces are not inherently wrong. But together they can leave important questions with too little attention — especially when the people affected are few, the time horizon is long, or the commercial market is small.

A 2025 National Academies study found that investment in therapeutic development does not always track disease burden and unmet need, and identified areas where public investment is relatively low compared with the burden they carry. It called for funding decisions to pay greater attention to both scientific merit and unmet need.

THE KIND OF SCIENCE WE WANT TO NOTICE

Important questions.
Quietly waiting.

01

Rare & neglected disease

Where patient populations can be small, evidence can take time, and market incentives can be thin. We want to help more promising questions get a chance to become answers.

02

Basic science

The work before the breakthrough: mechanisms, observations, methods and experiments that may not have an immediate product attached to them — but can change what becomes possible later.

03

Long-horizon discovery

Research that needs patience: years of data, fieldwork, replication or iteration before its value is obvious. Not everything meaningful can be measured in a quarter.

04

Science with thin incentives

Questions that matter deeply but attract less commercial attention because the population is small, the solution is difficult, or the economics simply do not work yet.

OUR PRINCIPLE

“The most interesting questions are not always the loudest ones.”

That is the spirit behind LVMARI. Our fragrances celebrate people who refused to stay inside one discipline. Our mission is to carry that same curiosity beyond fragrance — toward the scientists, studies and questions that expand what humanity knows.

WHAT LVMARI IS BUILDING TOWARD

A brand that funds curiosity,
not just consumption.

As LVMARI grows, we plan to build a research-giving program focused on overlooked scientific work. We will look for rigorous research where a relatively small amount of additional attention, funding or visibility can help move a meaningful question forward.

We are intentionally starting with the principle before the institution: follow the evidence, understand the gap, choose partners carefully, and be transparent about what we support.

We will not pretend every study is equally underfunded. We will do the work to understand where the gap actually is.

READ THE RESEARCH

Built on evidence, not a marketing statistic.

Our starting point is the work of organizations that track research investment and unmet need. We will keep updating this page as better data and better partners emerge.
